Her Majesty celebrates 20th Women’s Council gathering

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jan 23: Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha had consented to attend the Women’s Council Special Gathering in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration 1435 Hijrah, carrying the theme “Righteous Women are Mold of a Pious Generation” or “Mu’Minah Solehah Pembentuk Generasi Bertaqwa”.

At the event that took place at International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas yesterday, Her Majesty was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.

A welcoming speech was delivered by the Ra’es of the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. In her speech, Ustazah Dr Hjh Masnon Hj Ibrahim stated that the theme was chosen in order to invite all women to work together in playing the role of shaping the generation to come through the family institution in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of the Women’s Meritorious Service Awards (Anugerah Bakti Hijrah) 1435 Hijrah which was read out by Hjh Azizah Hj Musa, the Acting Director of Islamic Da’awah Centre at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Her Majesty then consented to present the awards to the recipients; Hjh Nor Hj Ladi and Hjh Patimah @ Zahrani Begawan Mudim Hj Asli @ Wasli, both of whom received BND$10,000, a certificate of recognition, and a souvenir each.

Dikir Marhaban was then performed by personnel from Ministry of Education, followed by the recitation of thanksgiving prayer by Hjh Zaliha Hj Ibrahim.

The Special Women’s Gathering was held for the 20th time and was organized by Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the Brunei Darussalam Women’s Council.
