Fair weather ahead for Sabah
KOTA KINABALU, Jan 26: Temperature in most of Sabah returned to normal yesterday due to fair weather.
Although there was no rain, the flood situation in Beaufort district remained the same.
Floodwaters had not receded and evacuees continue to remain at the two relief centres there.
The sun was shining in the state capital all day with a temperature of 30ºC at noon, and the Meteorological Department forecasted the same for today.
“Besides showers in a few isolated areas in the rural divisions in the evenings, we expect the weather to be fair throughout the state in the next couple of days.
“Even if it rains, the temperature will not be as bad as before, averaging between 23 and 25ºC,” said a spokesperson when contacted yesterday.
Meanwhile, the number of relocated Beaufort flood victims stood at 584 villagers involving 172 families as of 5.30pm yesterday.
District Officer Mohd Shaid Othman said they hoped the good weather continued so that the flood victims may return to their homes soon.
“The water level has receded in the town area but villages are still flooded.
“If it does not rain, the situation might be better tomorrow and it is possible for evacuees to start going back to their respective villages.”
