Special committee set up to acquire land for Esscom bases in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU, Nov 12: A special committee has been set up to acquire land for the construction of security bases that will accommodate five battalions from the army and General Operations Force (GOF) in Sabah’s east coast.
The battalions under the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) are part of the Eastern Sabah Security Command’s (Esscom) efforts to strengthen security along the east coast of the state.
The committee will be chaired by Land and Survey Department director, Datuk Osman Jamal, who is expected to chair its first meeting on Monday.
He added that the department had agreed to assist Esscom in the land acquisition process.
Mentek hoped the process including the approval would be sped up with the help of the Land and Survey Department.
Speaking on the suggestion to build two army camps in Felda Sahabat, Mentek said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had ordered for it to be constructed as soon as possible.
