BRUNEI: The Language & Literature Bureau (DBP) Library will soon adopt an e-Library System, which boasts features such as member registration, material search and retrieval, as well as a book lending and return system.

During the start of a three-day workshop to enhance library management and services yesterday at the DBP Library in Tutong District yesterday, Hajah Nortijah binti Haji Mohd Hassan, Acting Director of Language & Literature Bureau, said the new system would help librarians in carrying out their tasks.

DBP had been actively promoting a culture of reading, Hajah Nortijah said, while pointing out how Japan and other developed countries have had their library system improved.

The workshop was conducted by Dayang Nelly binti DP Haji Sunny, President of the Brunei Library, and Dayang Suzilawati binti Rahman from the Civil Service Institute.

According to Awang Hj Shari bin Hj Nassar, DBP Head of Library Division, the workshop is held to enhance the knowledge, skill and capability of librarians in the long run, especially in the field of library management and planning.
